LUCIANO MASTRO
TENOR
Luciano Mastro was born in Alberobello, Italy. In 2000 he won in the Maria Callas International Voice Competition a scholarship for master classes given by Renata Scotto, Maya Sunara, Bruno Cagli. In 2002 he made his debut as Tebaldo (Bellini: I Capuleti e i Montecchi) at Bari Teatro, where he returned a year later as Rodolfo (Puccini: La bohème).
Luciano Mastro performs regularly as a guest at the National Theatre in Prague and Brno in the Czech Republic, as well as theaters in Germany, Denmark , Poland and Slovakia.
He also sung Edgardo (Donizetti: Lucia di Lammermoor), Chevalier des Grieux (Puccini: Manon Lescaut), Bacchus (R. Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos), and the title role of Cyrano de Bergerac in Franco Alfano's opera. His Nanni in Marco Tutino's opera La Lupa at the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre in Ostrava earned him a wider nomination for the 2008 Thalia Award. Luciano Mastro has regularly perfomed on the European opera stages including Teatro Massimo Palermo, Teatr Wielki Warsaw (Tutino: Senso), Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Puccini: Madama Butterfly), the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava (Puccini: Manon Lescaut, Bizet: Carmen, Verdi: La traviata), State Theatre Košice (Bizet: Carmen) and others.
